What are Chiropractic Adjustments?

Chiropractic adjustments are a type of treatment that a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) will perform at our Chiropractic care center. An adjustment is the process of re-patterning nervous system function to increase adaptability. Our Chiropractor finds areas of spinal disfunction and then provides spinal adjustments to help restore health and wellness.

The chiropractor is gently moving the vertebrae (adjusting) to help align them with the discs. Ultimately, this relieves pressure on the discs, surrounding tissue, and nerves.

By correcting the positioning of these misaligned vertebra (subluxations) it will help relieve pain, restore movement, and correct position in your skeletal system.

How Does an Adjustment Help Me?

Adjustments are non-invasive, pain-free “tune up” tuning of the spine. This treatment is applied by our Chiropractor, Dr. Linda Weidler.

These adjustments are used to help minimize and eliminate pain, reduce nerve irritability, and align your spine.  They may also reduce inflammation, reduce muscle spasms and increase range of motion.

Chiropractic is the art, science and philosophy of locating and facilitating the reduction of interference to the nervous system. The chiropractic approach provides improved function and increases the body’s ability to adapt in every day life.   With improved spinal function, there is often improved nervous system function.

How Do I Get Adjusted?

When a chiropractic adjustment is applied to the spine, there are several adjusting technique options.

Most chiropractors use their hands for manual adjustments, as well as instrument assisted adjustments.  Adjustments are usually a quick thrust to a specific area of the spine while you are on an adjustment table.  There are often times where there may be a slower, constant applied pressure.

After many years of training and clinical experience, Dr. Weidler is highly skilled with many different adjusting techniques.  She will discuss her recommended treatment plan devised just for you. She will also  review what adjustment techniques are best suited for your specific condition
